VHFA staff helps rebuild New Orleans
On Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, four VHFA staff members joined other attendees of the National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA) Annual Conference in helping rebuild a
portion of New Orleans damaged by Hurricane Katrina in August 2006.
"Musicians' Village," conceived by musicians Harry Connick Jr. and Branford Marsalis, will consist of 70 single-family homes for displaced New Orleans musicians and other qualifying families on eight acres in the Upper 9th Ward.
Plans call for building at least 150 other homes in the surrounding area. The first 10 homeowners moved into their new homes in August 2006.
